Working with Education
Nurseries, preschools, schools, colleges and universities
EPIC works in close partnership with education settings across the South West and beyond – from early years through to university. Whether you need support with an individual student, advice for staff, or whole-setting training and consultation, our multidisciplinary team can help create the conditions where children and young people thrive.
Partnership with education settings
EPIC prides itself on having good working relationships with a range of mainstream, private and specialist nurseries, preschools, primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities across the South West and beyond. Our support can be for individual students; advice and support for headteachers, SENDCOs or pastoral leads; or whole-school support through presentations, workshops and training.
This can cover a wide range of mental health, emotional, developmental and educational difficulties, including school attendance – sometimes referred to as Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA).
Recognising and understanding additional need
EPIC can support education settings in recognising and understanding the level of additional need that a child or young person has, and advise on appropriate support. The 2026 SEND reform proposals are dependent on a child or young person having a thorough, timely and coordinated assessment of need by professionals with the required range of expertise.
Early years assessment
EPIC recognises the importance of identifying needs as early as possible, and offers specialist developmental assessments for preschool children to understand their strengths and difficulties in communication, sensory processing, learning and emotional needs. We can provide recommendations regarding the support needed for young children to be school-ready.
What we offer to education settings
EPIC can partner with nurseries, schools, colleges and universities to provide:
- Responsive assessment and support for individual students, including through our Education Support Adviser bridging support
- Onsite visits with our therapists to review environments and advise on practical strategies that strengthen inclusive practice across the whole setting
- Workshops, parent and student sessions, and professional development training tailored to the specific needs of the setting
We are always happy to discuss the needs of any educational placement and how EPIC may be able to support.
